J1 Students - Transfer Process

Transferring to PSU

This link would take you to the website of the Office of Admissions at Portland State University. That website is not maintained by the Office of International Students and Scholar Services and we do not assume any responsibility for any information contained in those pages.

Transferring out of PSU

You are a transfer student if you are moving from one U.S. school to another (this includes a U.S. high school, college, university, or an English Language Program).

As a J-1 visa holder you should:

  • obtain a new DS-2019 form from Portland State University,
  • be sure that the international student advisers at both the old and new schools are taking the necessary steps to complete the transfer,
  • take your new your DS-2019 and your I-94 and go to ISSS to check in.
You are not authorized to attend the new school until the above steps have been completed.
