International Faculty Services (IFS) provides information and assistance to PSU departments and international faculty members regarding work visas (H-1B, TN) and university sponsorship for permanent residence. (Information on visiting scholars needing J-1 Exchange Visitor visas is available in the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.)

In addition to helping PSU departments meet the legal requirements for employing international faculty, IFS advises international faculty and their dependents about regulations and procedures for maintaining legal status, travel, employment authorization, and other issues.

IFS is also responsible for the International Visiting Professor (IVP) Program, which brings visiting professors from abroad to PSU to teach in the Summer Session.

Among the international groups served by IFS are

  • tenure track and fixed term faculty requiring H-1B work visas
  • faculty in other visa categories, such as TN
  • faculty invited to teach in the International Visiting Professor (IVP) Program
  • nonresident aliens at PSU in other visa categories, such as B1/B2
  • faculty sponsored by the University for permanent residence

Among the campus groups served by IFS are

  • departmental chairs and their assistants
  • faculty hiring committees
  • Office of Human Resources
